STAY TUNED FOR MORE INFO REAL SOON.....

Dusty - 9/12/2003 at 05:27 AM

TopDroog - 9/12/2003 at 03:16 PM

Well, heck, where do we line up for that?

Heh, if "guitar woes" stories are part of the deal, let me know, and I'll tell mine.

Pam - 9/12/2003 at 06:42 PM

Pam - 9/13/2003 at 12:38 PM

The way I keep sneaking in here for a post or two while the construction of my apartment is getting done and the suspense is going to build!

yurtle - 9/13/2003 at 01:13 PM

Sony ever give that guitar away? Where's Cliffn?

Pam - 9/15/2003 at 03:34 AM

Update! Dusty and I discussed this tonight and he chose a number between 1 and 100. We have 56 forum members as of yet on here so when we reach 100 forum members we will announce the number that Dusty picked and who gets the guitar! Pretty easy, huh? Good luck and not too worry because we have more give aways to come!

Dusty - 9/15/2003 at 04:24 AM

I also have a old hot water heater ,vintage! thats up next ,,, but the winner will have to pay the shipping on it this time

Pam - 9/15/2003 at 11:43 AM

LMAO!

Rusty - 9/15/2003 at 09:02 PM

Is that water heater gas, electric or acoustic?

Denza - 9/15/2003 at 09:41 PM

Hey all, does this post officially make me a Dusty forum member? ...and don't I know some of you from somewhere?

Looks like you are in good hands here Dusty!

TopDroog - 9/15/2003 at 09:42 PM

Can I sign up as the next 44 members? I'd like to improve my odds. Although I'm already pretty odd, I guess.

The neck of my acoustic is about to snap off. Again. Elmer's carpenter's glue will only hold so long.

Denza - 9/15/2003 at 09:46 PM

TopDroog, you probably just need a bigger hammer...

CanPeach - 9/15/2003 at 09:59 PM

You really are from Chicago

Pam - 9/16/2003 at 12:13 PM

OW! LOL...I guess I am going to have to cut those big yummy bay scallops out of my diet for a little while and I wont have swollen fingers anymore. I believe too many scallops have done me in these days. My fingers swell up and then turn black and blue from the swelling. Geesh!

Kid - 9/16/2003 at 07:54 PM

Hey Dusty,

I'm not sure if that's your house on the website but i'm looking to get out of the city soon and would love to sit on the porch and play my new guitar

fschiazza - 9/16/2003 at 08:06 PM

Ooh, ooh! Pick me! Pick me!

CanPeach - 9/16/2003 at 08:42 PM

Dusty, thanks for directing me to IUMA...I wouldn't have known what the heck that was! Weather's been beautiful up here in southern Canada, though we are supposed to get hit by the tail end of the Hurricane this Friday. I'm praying nobody along the east coast gets hit hard, hang in there folks!

Once I filled in 120 ballots to try and win a Gibson guitar signed by Slash from Guns 'N Roses, I wasn't a big fan, I just kept seeing that shiny black guitar hanging up in the music store and pictured it falling into my hands...of course I didn't win it.

Great site, still checking everything out.

And a big hello to Pam, what would we do without you?

Sandman - 9/16/2003 at 08:48 PM

Looks like you have 62 members so far Not too bad.

That sure is his place! Abi's favorite place to go fishing! Perfect porch for kicking back and playing as many of you have heard on the CD's!

Hophead - 9/16/2003 at 11:21 PM

Hey now Dusty -

My kids want to learn to play guitar and Donna will be giving them lessons -- so I need to win this guitar so they'll have something to practice on!

Dusty - 9/17/2003 at 01:50 AM

Hey Hophead.. with Donna giving them lessons,,,their gonna be killer ....
and now ya got a chance like every one else

Kreedham - 9/17/2003 at 03:31 AM

Hey Canpeach! If you can't wait to hear the music then order Dusty's CD. He'll donate $5 to RAINN which is the chosen charity for the ABB Forum Posters. I've got my CD ordered. I can't wait to hear Dusty!

cortezthekiller - 9/17/2003 at 11:34 AM

Is the new cd in stores??

Pam - 9/17/2003 at 02:34 PM

cortez, it is in some stores but it is cheaper if you get it from me. and I send extra gifts too!

Kid - 9/17/2003 at 11:34 PM

Pam,

i want to order a Blues take me Home. is it possible to order the new stoy brook cd too at the same time?

Pam - 9/18/2003 at 12:15 AM

You can't get Stony Brook from me you would have to get it from Hitting The Note. We are a different organization here, Idlewild East. But if you want to buy Dusty's CD send me a PM. I bet you that you will get Blues, Take me Home... in your mailbox before Stony Brook arrives.

cortezthekiller - 9/18/2003 at 02:21 AM

cool.....get back later about the blues take me home cd.

I really hope I get this guitar!! My only acoustic was a spur of the moment thing 5 yrs ago and is a crappy yamaha with incredibly high action it has a permanent mute. Since then I work on it about every day....but I can really only do most stuff on the electric. I'd like something I can play for hours at a time and blow out some neil on my harmonica in for more than 3 songs.

CliffnTina - 9/18/2003 at 11:19 AM

Am I already a member?
Does this post make me a member?
When, where and how do I register my guess for the secret number?
If I were to send Dusty a "number", whould that increase my chances of winning said guitar?

Pam - 9/18/2003 at 12:57 PM

Welcome Cliff. Please see my answers to Rusty's post for the same answers to your questions. LOL...

BigSixPeachHead - 9/18/2003 at 02:13 PM

Cool Beans Dusty and Pam....

Shelby is saving for a guitar but winning one for him would be soooo cool and then he could buy his own amp

Folks buy Dusty's Blues Take Me Home from Pam, she does send some cool treats and also saves you some $$.....and not to mention it's an excellent cd..

Good Luck To Everyone...

Later, Karen

nyc_barb - 9/18/2003 at 07:01 PM

My son would love a new guitar. He's been noodling around with nyc_bob's old strat knock-off. This is so cool. Thanks Dusty and Pam!

Sherrick - 9/18/2003 at 08:01 PM

one can never have too many guitars..... I only have two, myself, as I'd said in the other thread...I know I'll never be famous for playing, but if I ever am, I plan to pull out the first guitar I ever owned, tell the crowd so, and play it, even though its already 13 years old as of right now....which will probably double by the time I ever get noticed for anything, especiall guitar playing.

LinnieXX - 9/18/2003 at 08:58 PM

i have a guitar but i have NO idea how to tune it. therefore, it just sort sits there.

besides, i have found that my skills mainly reside in the "Rythym Egg" arena.

Lkrdg - 9/18/2003 at 09:07 PM

Hey Pam, I don't know about these guys, but I'm here for the picks!!!

cortezthekiller - 9/22/2003 at 01:54 AM

bluefox - 9/22/2003 at 04:00 PM

So when do we get to see Dusty play at The Double Door Inn in Charlotte, NC?? Hope that it will be soon!!

Sherrick - 9/22/2003 at 04:03 PM

heh...Dusty...you oughta buy massive bulk quantaties of picks so you can peg them at people in the audience when they stop listening...hehe. A friend of mine used to buy these cheap ones for just that...he'd get the extra heavy ones so they had some heft and wouldn't just flutter...and he'd reach into his pocket while he was singing or had a free hand...and would just throw em at people. Obviously he could only do it at small gigs when everybody hung out right in front of him and stuff. I saw him nail a couple folks smack in the forehead at one gig, without missing a note...of course I cracked up, and ruined the song on the tape he was making of his gig, but it was all good, because he had more tape for later.

CanPeach - 9/23/2003 at 12:24 AM

If I ever go to one of Dusty's shows I'll make sure I'm paying attention...just in case

Pam - 9/23/2003 at 12:59 AM

Laughing is good, laughing while recording is even better! Keeps it natural and keeps the moment in time for all to listen too again and again.

cortezthekiller - 9/23/2003 at 01:56 AM

hey pam,
Around how many members we at so far?

Pam - 9/23/2003 at 03:01 AM

We are at 73 now. If you click on forum and you are on the main board index you can see at the bottom of the page how many members we have so far.

Dusty - 9/23/2003 at 06:08 AM

Ordered some more picks today. better than a business card,,,,...
I've been thinking about some nice pens

Pam - 9/23/2003 at 11:39 AM

There are some nice pens at the same place we got the pencils from. I might order some of those pencils with the big smiles on top for my B&P friends soon.

Sherrick - 9/23/2003 at 12:11 PM

true, true...but he was using the basis of the recording for a demo, so I kinda killed that tune...but since he was doing it all himself, he had other better versions of the tune anyways, thankfully.

TerriB - 9/24/2003 at 01:51 AM

Ok, am I a member now?

TerriB - 9/24/2003 at 01:56 AM

How 'bout now? I don't get it.

Dusty, Pam has my address

Pam - 10/1/2003 at 04:48 PM

Okay Dusty and I have discussed the guitar deal this morning on the phone and I know we said we would wait until we had 100 members on the site, but since our lucky number has been reached finally and we had no idea who was going to stroll on in to be that member number, I can do the big winning announcement today!

(imagine a drum roll here).........and our lucky winner of that fine acoustic guitar is Tim Hudson who clocked in on the site at just the right time! Congratulations Tim! Dusty said if you wish to get your guitar autographed he will be glad to do it for you before we pack it on up to be mailed out!

Dusty - 10/1/2003 at 06:33 PM

Pam - 10/2/2003 at 01:05 AM

The guitar is in the video clips here on the site!

BigSixPeachHead - 10/2/2003 at 05:11 PM

Congratulations Tim and hope to hear you play some day soon...the Beacon would be great

Huge thanks *clapping wildly*
to Pam for arranging the guitar giveaway and to our Brother Dusty for sponsoring and putting up this great prize.

It sure was fun and thanks for the opportunity to be part of it....

Slap in "Blues take me home" and enjoy the rest of the afternoon.

Later, Karen

salcapitano - 10/2/2003 at 06:31 PM

darn, I missed it by that much. Guess I should have waited just a little longer to sign on. Pam and Dusty this is a great site. When are you coming to So. Calif. ?

Dusty - 10/3/2003 at 12:24 AM

Sal , you were close what part of SO Cal..???.. the cat I play guitar, Red Reo lived in Northridge, outside of LA for 25 years,, and his old band. 'The Preacher's' with Smilin Brian on harp are still ripping it up out there.....
I'm still trying to get Red... to go out here,, and play with Brian..... theres a link to the band in the " people you should know' section....check it out!!!!
and thanks for stopping by

salcapitano - 10/3/2003 at 04:25 AM

Dusty, I live about 50 miles east of Northridge. I still have a few freinds out that way. Used to go to the cowboy club out in No. Hollywood.cant remember the name of the club but it was pretty popular, to see alot of big name acts. Gram Parsons, Sweethearts of the Rodeo to name a few. Hey let me ask you a question. Is it tough to get backed out here ? I emailed Les Dudeks sitr and was told to get my freinds together and make some noise to get him to come out here. Ok, right. Make noise to who. I'm no promoter. I'm just a freight foreman. Which reminds me to change the subject. I work for a company that does trade shows, One of the shows we produce is the NAMM show in January. Are you coming out here for it or do you attend it back east. Anyway, enough of my rambling. Thanks for the reply and info. I'll be sure to check out the band

salcapitano - 10/3/2003 at 08:48 PM

Pam, I just wanted to publicly say thank you for the pm.

Pam - 10/4/2003 at 01:12 PM

Your very welcome!

Dusty - 10/5/2003 at 04:26 PM

Yo Sal...see if ya can get . 'the Preachers' booked there.. and me and Red will fly out there in a sec..and play with them as Red told me this week... "I'll play at a Closet opening if they pay " funny guy that Red!!!!

salcapitano - 10/5/2003 at 04:37 PM

Ok Dusty I guess I'll have to just win the lottery and open my own club and have the artists that I want to have play here. Hey what about NAMM, nat. assoc of music merch, do you ever attend that show ?

Dusty - 10/14/2003 at 02:55 PM

hey Sal.. nope never went to NAMM...Im a ASCAP member and get invited to a bunch of networking meetings all over the year... but unless its in my backyard or up at Arlo's..... I dont go,, probally should but,,,, thats the way it is here with me... just a swamp yankee good old boy

Pam - 10/15/2003 at 02:43 PM

...and playin' the blues...

salcapitano - 10/18/2003 at 11:43 PM

Hi Dusty, I'll tell you for me the Namm show is like being a kid in a candy store.

Dusty - 10/20/2003 at 04:46 AM

yes that what Ive heard,, but i have enough trouble going into Walmart to get one thing and coming out with a shopping cartfull ,, never mind a music store

Dusty - 2/14/2005 at 04:17 PM

I've been thinking about another give away.probally after the Beacon.... I wonder if anyone would be interested????

Dusty - 2/18/2005 at 04:55 AM

Dusty - 2/26/2005 at 04:45 AM

Well the auction will get a Gibson/Epi Les Paul jr....a nice little guitar and it screams and the dog howls when I play it,,,, but ole Jake dont need much of a reason to sing along with the old man...hehehe
I had a bit of a problem with the importer on the reso's....I have the case here,,, but they changed the price ..a little to much....and I'm trying to work them down...or the case goes back

Dusty - 3/5/2005 at 04:16 PM

well the case of reso's went back Musicains Friend aint my friend no more,,, Guitar Center is and so Is lovely Marci, who works there

Dusty - 3/23/2005 at 07:04 PM

yurtle - 3/25/2005 at 02:51 PM

CanPeach - 3/27/2005 at 03:06 AM

Guitar give away...I like the sound of that!

Dusty - 3/28/2005 at 06:17 AM

yea....musically things are moving fast than planned all of the sudden.... for a long winter with little to say accomplished...the last week has been the opposite......
I'm looking at a sweet Acoustic Guitar,,,,I think Ill get it ,, set it up for slide,,, do some recording for the next CD on it,, then do a give away......to correspond with the CD..its gonna be a mostly solo... as of now..dont really have the time or in to mood to deal with the egos of others.....but I'm in gear..so who know what tommorow will bring

Dusty - 3/28/2005 at 06:27 AM

I was just reading on the beginning of this thread,,,, and I think I need some more new members, I'll set the mark at 500..CD should be done then....then the guitar goes,,,,
I'm gonna do a little bit more for a few folks here!!!!
picks and pencils all around lol..no, just kiddin'
Ill get a pic of the guitar up in a bit!!!

CanPeach - 4/4/2005 at 12:52 PM

Sweet, can't wait to see it. Good luck on the new cd Dusty

Dusty - 4/12/2005 at 12:43 AM

Thanks Neil!!! and I'm trying to decide on either a cherry red SG or a BB King style guitar for the give away....
I'll use it on the CD then have Pam send out a Dusty gram....No, not a half a gram ....old Saturday nite live joke with Chevy Land Shark...

CanPeach - 4/20/2005 at 07:33 PM

Either one sounds cool to me Dusty

SNL, hey I remember that show. One of the few that actually made me laugh out loud

Dusty - 4/25/2005 at 04:01 PM

Yo Brother Neil,it should be here in a week or so... actually they should,, I can never get just one both beautiful guitars for the price....
I may endup giving my Les paul special away lol!!!!!

yurtle - 4/28/2005 at 01:02 AM

CanPeach - 5/1/2005 at 10:21 PM

Make sure you keep something for yourself Dusty

Dusty - 5/4/2005 at 09:35 PM

....gonna be hard to give these away....very sweet... and damn... the prices are so cool!!!!!!!

CanPeach - 5/13/2005 at 02:53 PM

You can never have too many guitars!

Dusty - 5/19/2005 at 01:38 AM

ya wanna bet,Neil...I dident even open the new ones when they came,, just put them in the cellar....for later when the Spring clean up is done,,, its easy for me to find a excuse to play... and with over a dozen in the house now...lol I have more than enought excuses hehehehe

Dusty - 10/18/2005 at 04:42 AM

I gotta get rid of this thing,,, before the neck warps... lol....but if it does,,,It will be great for slide playing!!!!

CanPeach - 10/21/2005 at 07:58 PM

Good idea Dusty

Dusty - 10/28/2005 at 04:16 PM

.....damn thing amazed me ... a little setup and tighting of a few things.... and its perfect.....
..Sounds just like Red's Vintage Gibson ES 335 and looks like it too or BB Kings' Lucille'.....China made but that dont mean much any more to Me...but American setup ect....
if anyone is looking for a real good second guitar,,,buy this!!!!!

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=guitar/search/detail/base_pid/514013/

Dusty - 11/8/2005 at 04:00 AM

....guitar give aways another one went to the Jam for Duane..to Randy and Brent ....for all their hard work!!!!!
and I guess its hanging on the wall and the 2nd Street club!!!!
I like surprising people and putting a smile on their faces!!!!!

Dusty - 11/16/2005 at 05:28 AM

another guitar giveaway... went to Brother CanPeach....like the one I gave to the folks at the JFD....but only red... no contest...I just like the cat...he's cool ... he's up in Toronto..a place I have very fond memories of and Neil..is all over the HTW On Brother Dickie's site and the ABB site adding his insight and wisdom, and I like that in a person,, he's here for the music and stays out of the BS that sometimes crops up on both sites,,,( but never here lol) and I admire that in a person!
plus he's from Canada..oh yea I mentioned that,,, but if Canada was warmer, I'd retire there
Now there's one more cat or three or so....who's been very cool to me over the years here... and Christmas is coming....
So..... who knows!!!!

CanPeach - 11/17/2005 at 01:14 AM

Dusty, can't begin to thank you enough for one of the biggest surprises I've ever gotten. Still can't believe my good fortune every time I pick up this gorgeous guitar

Both me and my son have been playing it since I got it, my wife thought I'd been buying stuff on ebay when it arrived

My family knew about some of the good folks on these HTW sites, but now they really know

Thanks again Dusty for your generosity, this was one birthday I wasn't moaning about how old I'm getting...I was having too much fun to think about it

Thanks also for the kind words

And if it ever warms up here in winter, I'll be sure to let ya know

I was wondering a few days ago...How many Guitars I've given away... over the last 20 or so years.... for either a Benefit or to just give one as a gift....
I'll guess the number as 30.... some cheap... some Good...I like gifting Folks...
During the Winter..I was looking online fora Special Guitar..for a Wonderful friend..a Cat who has played with Me on and off for over 40 years...( damn Im old haha) but I got a nice resophonic guitar cigar box..SO Nice ...I kept it.... then found a 1964 Gibson Melody Maker... Real Nice.... Mine haha..then a 1962 Silvertone guitar in a Amp/case..just tested it out a day or go.... Nice... a keeper...
but the Cat has a acoustic guitar than He bought from Steven Stills.... so I'm still looking....it will talk to Me... a good guitar always does....
Peace...
