Cute story...
Abigail gathers up all of her birthday money last night and we go out shopping. She tries on about 5 different pairs of shoes, weird girly heels, and settles on a pair of suede blue sneakers with little sparkles. Then she looks at clothes and is finally tired of Mary Kate & Ashley stuff! Hooray! She gets a warm up suit for soccer instead. Then we go look at toys and doll stuff. Look at a lot of stuff, she rounds a corner and sees this little turquiose blue acoustic guitar and lights up like the sunrise! I knew in that second we were taking that little guitar home! She tells me it is the same color as Susan's guitar. She then takes about 5 minutes reading the package to me, comes with a strap, a book, extra strings, a pickguard and has little colorful flowers painted on it. She is quiet for a minute, doing the math in her head to be sure she has enough to buy it, picks it up and puts it in the cart. Tells me she is ready to go now. Calls Dusty on the way home to tell him what she bought. As soon as she gets in the door, she takes it out and tunes it the best she can by ear, and starts to play it a little, puts the strap on, plays some more, says she is going to have Susan sign it for her when she sees her again, just Susan, not Derek, (I am trying not to laugh) then I said it was time for pajamas and tooth brushing and bed. She does all that and I tuck her in bed and not 2 minutes later I hear the guitar. lol...so I wait a little while and went to tell her it was really time to go to sleep now. We go through that about 3 more times and finally she goes to sleep around 11:00. I tell her to get up this morning, she shoots up out of bed, gets dressed for school and starts playing again. lol...I told her she owns the guitar now and she can play it later after school before she misses the bus. So she lays the guitar on her bed, all comfy with the neck on the pillow, touches the painted flowers just once more, and goes to the bus just in time to catch the bus.
I can guarantee she will have the Austin City Limits Susan DVD on right after school and trying her best to play along. Too cute!

Nice to see Dickey on the Grammys last night, though Tim McGraw shouldn't have been allowed to sing part of "Ramblin' Man", he sounded like he'd never heard the song before

Also happy to see Loretta Lynn win 2 Grammys, her cd "Van Lear Rose" she did with Jack White of the White Stripes is great, odd combination of musicians you'd think, but it works.

Hey Dusty. Good to see you're playing a gig next month. Wish I could come down and Jam with ya. Will any tapers be there? I'd love to get a copy of your live material.

Any word about new songs being released? Talk to ya soon brother~ Mike
